The Magic Car Wash by Portal Rental

Providence art band Portal Rental welcomes viewers of all ages to THE MAGIC CAR WASH, a portal inside the back of a box truck. Take a seat and lose yourself in a foam of short experimental films featuring Portal Rental’s energetic music, live-action footage, stop-motion animation, and puppetry.

Free! Duration: 8 minutes. The portal can hold 4-6 visitors at a time.

Born from the pandemic, The Providence Drum Troupe are an interactive group of dynamic musicians, a wide-range of dancers, acrobats, visual artists, puppetry and more from near and far who create funky beats with positive energy, demonstrating that living in harmony with one another is not an antiquated notion.

For the past two months, Providence students have been directing the exploration of wildlife in Guatemala's Petén rainforest from every Community Library in the city.

They are coming together to share student wildlife videos and storytelling from the rainforest program, enjoy Guatemalan food, drink and cultural performances, peruse a gallery of art related to the natural world, and activities for children and families about exploring nature around us.

Create music in a relaxed setting! No experience necessary. Michelle will bring specially created wood and metal xylophones of varying sizes. Some of the instruments, designed by Carl Orff, have removable bars. The rich sounds of these instruments remind one of wind chimes, except the players create the music!! Young or old, musician or not, YOU can be a part of the performance, or feel free to sit back and listen to the music that is being created.
