En Plein Air with Bannister

Join the Bannister Community Art Project, the Downtown Providence Park Network and P3 for a celebration of outdoor “en plein air” art making. Just as painter Edward Bannister once did, we’ll gather along the Providence River to paint, sketch or work with other visual mediums. Watch as artists excited about plein air artmaking create works of art, or grab a sketch pad from the P3 ART!cart and create your own.

We’ll end at the newly installed Edward Bannister statue at Market Square, where you can take your photo or create a sketch with the sculpture of Edward Bannister, the first person of African descent to win a National Award at the Centennial in 1876.

We’ll be meeting on the East Side of the Pedestrian Bridge. You are welcome to bring your own materials, or we will provide materials for you (sketchbook and colored pencils). All ages are welcome!

Notes:

This is a family-friendly event open to children and adults of all ages.

There will be no bathrooms available for this event.

Watch your email and the Downtown Providence Park Network social media (@downtownpvdparks) for updates on weather cancellations. The rain date will be October 22nd.
